Favorite Genre

Hi, hi! Welcome to day 20 of the video game challenge! Today’s challenge is ‘favorite genre’.

3 letters. RPG.

I enjoy many other genres of games, such as a few shooters like Destiny and Splatoon, I enjoy platformers and rhythm games as well. However, RPGs are special to me because they often tell beautiful stories and provide artwork to go with it as well as allowing me to be a part of it. Not only that, RPGs improved my reading as well as issues I had with my eyes at one point in my life.

The vast library of RPG games out there is absolutely amazing and I believe there is something in that genre for everyone. I’ve played RPGs that made me laugh, I’ve played RPGs that made me cry like a baby and I’ve even played RPGs that made me go ‘wtf’.

That’s the beauty of gaming though, just like books, television, movies, magazines, etc. there is something for everyone. It’s just a matter of finding your favorite.

Personally, my favorite types of RPGs are the one’s where there is huge character development, a bit of humor and a tragedy within it. Not necessarily a character dying but some significant sadness within the game to bring out emotion.

Throughout this challenge, I’m sure you could have already guessed that my favorite genre would be RPG since almost every post has been about an RPG. Chrono Trigger, Xenosaga, Lufia II, Persona, The Legend of Dragoon, Final Fantasy, they’re all magical to me.
